Seignosse - A couple of kilometres inland from the Bay of Biscay lies one of France’s most beautiful and most challenging courses. Hidden in the forest amongst the Cork Oak and pine lies the stunning Seignosse.
 
Frankfurter - Frankfurter Golf Club was a once a regular German Open venue and this historical layout was designed by the great Harry Colt in 1913.
 
Le Touquet (La Mer) - Le Touquet's stunning sea course, La Mer, is one of Colt’s greatest achievements. It’s a classic links course that winds its way between the coastal dunes and rough grasses.
 
Real Puerta de Hierro (Arriba) - The Arriba course at Real Club de la Puerta de Hierro is one of the oldest courses in Spain and it’s also one of the most private and exclusive.
 
Adamstal - Adamstal is one of the world's most beautiful golf courses and it's certainly one of Austria's very best.
 
Koln - Founded in 1906, Köln Golf Club is one of Germany’s oldest courses and is routed through the dense forest at Refrath.
 
Villa d'Este - Peter Gannon cut Villa d’Este through a pine, ash and chestnut forest back in 1926 and this former Italian Open venue is still as stylish today as it was back then.
 
Barbaroux - If you like variation, entertainment and interesting holes, Barbaroux is the course for you. Nobody could ever accuse it of being boring.
 
Visby - Visby at Kronholmen celebrated the first fifty years of club history in 2008 and this remains an extremely popular European golf course.
 
Finca Cortesin - Finca Cortesin is set a short distance inland from the Mediterranean and has been routed through a dramatic valley. It's one of Europe’s longest layouts and will soon become a household name.
 
Quinta de Cima - American-styled golf here in Portugal. Only the very best golfers will score well - this is tough.
 
Joyenval (Marly) - The Marly course at Joyenval is a classic Trent Jones design with plenty of bunkers and large undulating greens.
 
Falsterbo - Falsterbo is one of the few true classic links courses in Continental Europe. It’s located at the southernmost tip of Sweden on the scenic Falsterbo peninsula, where the Öresund and the Baltic meet.
 
Torino (Blue) - John Morrison designed the original Torino course and a number of holes were renovated by the Canadian architect Graham Cook in preparation for the 1999 Italian Open, won by Padraig Harrington.
 
zur Vahr Bremen (Garlstedter Heide) - At the Club zur Vahr nestles one of Germany’s original and best courses. Carved through a pine forest the course is now called Garlstedter Heide and it’s even better after its 2004 facelift.
 
Real Puerta de Hierro (Abajo) - Real Club de la Puerta de Hierro is one of the most private golf clubs in Spain. The Arriba is one of Spain’s oldest courses but the Abajo, on the other hand, is much younger.
 
Rosendaelsche - Rosendaelsche Golf Club is one of the oldest clubs in the Netherlands (formed in 1895) and is heathland golf at its very best, played over gently undulating forested terrain.
 
Gut Altentann - Gut Altentann is the Austrian course that Jack built and it’s set on the outskirts of Mozart’s hometown, Salzburg.
 
Royal Antwerp - Royal Antwerp was inaugurated in 1888 and it’s the oldest golf club in Belgium. It’s also one of continental Europe’s masterpieces.
 
Sporting Club Berlin (Palmer) - Arnold Palmer laid out the first course at the Berlin Sporting Club back in 1995 and it’s a cracker and probably the course you’ll want to limber up on first.
 
Real Sevilla - Real Club de Golf de Sevilla opened for play in 1991 and in 2004 it was the host venue for the World Golf Championships (formerly the World Cup of Golf).
 
Sueno (Pines) - The Pines course at Sueno Golf Club is an excellent addition to Turkey’s burgeoning portfolio of top-notch golf courses and it has elevated the Belek region to a new level.
 
Holstebro (Skovbanen) - Holstebro Golf Club represents an honest challenge and, in the crisp and clear Danish air, there can be few more pleasant places to be.
 
St Nom-la-Breteche (Rouge) - Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche was the long term venue for the Trophée Lancôme, which was played on a composite layout of the Red and Blue courses.
 
Le Querce - To the northwest of Rome lies the beautiful Le Querce Golf Club, set in 60 hectares of delightful undulating land. With fairways flanked by stately oaks it's not surprising to note that the club is called “The Oaks” in English.
 
Ljunghusen (Yellow & Red) - Ljunghusen dates back to 1932 and there are 27 holes to be sampled here on the unique maritime heath of the Falsterbo Peninsula.
 
Hossegor - Hossegor is the perfect venue for golf and it is reminiscent of the sparkling heathland courses, which are in abundance to the west of London.
 
PGA of Sweden National (Lakes) - The number of bunkers on the Lakes course averages four per hole, the same as the Links course, but the traps on the Lakes occupy an area three times that of the other course at the PGA of Sweden National.
 
Schloss Schonborn - The 27-hole Schloss Schönborn complex is set in the heart of the Austrian wine region and it has the most impressive manor house 19th.
 
Son Gual - Thomas Himmel's design is captivating and with bent grass from tee to green the whole Son Gual experience is polished to absolute perfection.
 
Furnas - You’ll need to fly into the middle of the Atlantic to the Azorean island of San Miguel to find Furnas but to play this course only once is worth the trip alone.
 
Sand - After a long search for land by architects Arthur Hills and Steve Forrest, they finally selected an old potato farm just outside Jönköping for Sand Golf Club.
 
El Prat (Pink) - The Pink, or Rosa, course at Real Club de Golf El Prat is just over 7,000 yards long with a par of 72. Fairways are generally wide and greens are large with subtle borrows.
 
Porto Santo - Porto Santo is set to become a must-visit island because the flamboyant Spanish maestro Seve Ballesteros fashioned a must-play ocean-side course
 
Esbjerg (Marbaek) - On the edge of the Marbaek Forest, amongst stands of pine, spruce and larch lies the 42-hole Esbjerg Golf Club and one of Scandinavia’s best courses is the Marbaek.
 
Linna - Linna golf course opened for play in 2005 and it’s routed through a pine and birch forest adjacent to the famous and historic Vanajan Linna Hotel.
 
Abama - With Atlantic Ocean views across to the island of La Gomera and a thrilling collection of holes, Abama is a new European course destined for success.
 
Emporda (Links) - The Green was the first nine to open at Emporda Golf Resort and this has been combined with the Red – the most recent nine – to form the new Links course.
 
Hardelot (Les Pins) - Close to the Edwardian seaside resort of Hardelot in the Pas de Calais northern region of France lies the beautiful golf course, Les Pins. It's set amongst the dunes and a glorious pine forest.
 
Moliets - Moliets is set in amongst the pines of Landes in a thoroughly agreeable and most natural setting.
 
Antalya (PGA Sultan) - Carved through a forest of eucalyptus and pine, the PGA Sultan course is one of Europe’s best new courses and it’s attached to one of Turkey’s finest resorts.
 
Keilir - The Kelir clubhouse commands spectacular views out over the Atlantic Ocean across the bay to "Snaefellsjokull" the glacier where Jules Verne’s "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" took place.
 
Kytaja (North West) - Already hailed as one of the best Scandinavian golf facilities, the Kytäjä facility, and the North West in particular, can only improve as it matures.

Moray (Old) - The Old course at Moray Golf Club is a traditional treasure - a links which starts and ends in the town. The closing hole is one of the finest in the British Isles.
 
Spey Valley - The golf course at Spey Valley has an old fashioned out and back routing and water comes into play along the way on several occasions.

Archerfield (Fidra) - Situated between Gullane and North Berwick, the Fidra course at Archerfield Links has a contrasting mix of pine-flanked and traditional styled links holes.
 
Boat of Garten - Make no mistake – this is exciting golf. The lovely course at the Boat of Garten Golf Club wends its way, up and down, through heather, whin, pine and birch.
 
Lundin - Lundin Golf Club has a bit of everything: burns, blind drives, out-of-bounds, a nimiety of bunkers (many of which are deep and punishing), the ever-present wind and truly excellent greens.
 
Downfield - On the outskirts of Dundee, lies Downfield Golf Club, a stunning parkland course little known outside Scotland.
 
Dunbar - The course at Dunbar Golf Club is laid out on a narrow strip of land with the best holes hugging the rocky coastline affording resplendent views across the North Sea to Bass Rock, a huge volcanic lump rising up out of the water.
 
Glasgow (Gailes) - Glasgow Gailes is a classic golf links. “The turf is something softer – at least in my imagination – than that of the East Coast courses,” wrote Darwin, “and the greens are wonderfully green and velvety.”
 
Turnberry (Kintyre) - The exhilarating Kintyre course re-opened for play in 2001. This Donald Steel layout is a complete redesign of Turnberry’s old Arran course.
 
Monifieth (Medal) - There are two golf courses at Monifieth but it's the Medal course that's used as an Open qualifying venue when the Open is played at nearby Carnoustie.
 
Archerfield (Dirleton) - Compared to the Fidra, the Dirleton course at Archerfield is a more traditional Scottish links with deep pot bunkers and sand dunes flanking each fairway.
 
Murcar Links - Murcar Links Golf Club is located on a classic stretch of links land with huge sand dunes, crumpled fairways, whins, burns and heather.
 
Leven Links - Leven Links Golf Course measures a modest 6,506 yards from the medal tees against a par of 71, but the wind often laughs in the face of the yardage figures.
 
Gleneagles (PGA Centenary) - From the back tees, the PGA Centenary at Gleneagles is the longest inland course in Scotland. It's also the venue for the 2014 Ryder Cup.
 
Gullane (No.2) - Many prefer the No.2 at Gullane Golf Club to No.1 - it's a course of great variety and challenge...it was used for Open Championship Qualifying in 1980.
 
Scotscraig - Scotscraig Golf Club is situated close to the sea, but it's more heathland in character than links. The course plays over undulating terrain and is used for Open Qualifying when the Open is at St Andrews.
 
Roxburghe - Located in the heart of the Scottish Borders, the Roxburghe golf course is set within a 50,000-acre estate, owned by the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe.

Crail (Balcomie) - The Balcomie Links is the relatively modern home of the Crail Golfing Society, the seventh oldest golf club in the world, which was formed in 1786.

Grove - Kyle Philips has done a neat job, using the natural contours of the land in an understated way to create The Grove...a discerning golf course.
 
Prince's - In 1932, Prince’s Golf Club proudly hosted its first and only Open Championship. "The Squire", Gene Sarazen, was the eventual winner.
 
Isle of Purbeck (Purbeck) - The vista from the Isle of Purbeck golf course is breathtaking, for the club is positioned on a high heathland plateau and the 360-degree panorama continually interrupts one’s concentration of the game at hand.
 
Beau Desert - One of the many treats at Beau Desert Golf Club is that you play most holes in splendid isolation; you can lose yourself in the trees here. Additionally, the holes are varied and memorable.
 
Hindhead - The front nine at Hindhead Golf Club is laid out through heather strewn Ice Age valleys and the back nine plays on a heathland plateau.

Saunton (West) - The West is the second course at Saunton Golf Club and was originally laid out in the mid-1930s. It’s shorter than its older sister but, nonetheless, the West represents a challenge.
 
Ipswich (Main) - The Ipswich Golf Club at Purdis Heath compares favourably with any inland course in the British Isles, it's a James Braid classic.

Pestovo - The English father and son team of Dave and Paul Thomas designed Pestovo as a Russian championship course that will compete with Moscow Country Club in terms of quality and challenge.
 
Moscow - Almost half the holes at the Moscow Country Club golf course have water to contend with, especially at the signature, 576-yard par five 5th.
 
San Roque (Old) - Dave Thomas and Tony Jacklin designed the Old course at San Roque and it opened for play in 1990 at an alleged cost of $1million per hole.
 
Club De Campo Villa de Madrid (Negro) - On the outskirts of Madrid lies the famous Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, perhaps the largest sports club in Europe with more than 10,000 members.
 
Neguri - Neguri, or Real Sociedad de Golf de Neguri to give the club its full title, was originally founded way back in 1911 but today’s course was laid out in 1961 and it’s located in Getxo, a few kilometres north west of Bilbao.
 
San Roque (New) - The New course at San Roque may be one of the finest new resort courses in Europe and certainly one of the most beautiful.
 
Alcanada - Set on the bay of Alcudia with stunning views across to the lighthouse on Alcanada Island from which the course takes name, this is a true Robert Trent Jones Jnr gem.
 
Real Sociedad Hipica Espanola Club de Campo (South) - The South course at the Real Sociedad Hípica Española Club de Campo was created in 2001 and the major difference between it and the longer North course is its hillier layout.

Santana - Designed by Cabell B. Robinson and opened for play at the beginning of 2004, it has taken a year or two for Santana to become recognised as one of the Costa del Sol’s leading courses.
 
Platja de Pals - Hidden away in the northeast corner of Catalunya, near the French border, the Platja de Pals course is a timeless classic routed through a dense forest of umbrella pines.
 
Ulzama - Originally designed by Javier Arana in 1965, Ulzama lies in the Navarrese Valley of the same name, within an old oak forest.
 
Mijas (Los Lagos) - One of several Robert Trent Jones designs that are strung out along the Costa del Sol, Mijas is a marvelous golf complex offering two wonderfully contrasting 18-hole courses.

Costa Adeje - A decade after José "Pepe" Gancedo fashioned Golf del Sur on the island of Tenerife in the late 1980s, he created another 18-hole layout along the coast at Costa Adeje.
 
Marbella Club - Marbella Club is one of the best mountain courses on the Costa del Sol. With some spectacular elevated tee shots, it’s a Dave Thomas special and a true Spanish gem.
 
Estepona - The Estepona golf course lies in the shadow of the Sierra Bermeja Mountains and golfers enjoy sea views from nearly every hole.

Vallda - Opened in 2009, the course at Vallda Golf and Country Club was fashioned by Hawtree Design in a classic British style, inspired by London’s heathland. With fescue seeded playing surfaces, Hawtree has created the feel good factor.
 
Kristianstad (Ostra) - The East course (Östra) at Kristianstad Golf Club is one of Sweden’s elder statesmen and is located at Åhus on a soft and gently undulating landscape.
 
Bokskogens (Old) - Laid out on the shores of Lake Yddingen, Bokskogen Old course was the venue for the European Boys Team Championship in 2006 and big tournaments are commonplace at this golf club.

Rock Creek Cattle Company - The Tom Doak-designed golf course at Rock Creek Cattle Company opened for play in 2008, competing with the 10,000-foot backdrop of the sometimes snow-capped but always dramatic Flint Creek Mountain Range.

Interlachen - During the 1930 US Open at Interlachen Country Club, Bobby Jones skimmed his ball over the water on the 9th to make a birdie which went a long way to ensuring he achieved the "Grand Slam".

Greystone (Legacy) - Attractively set in deciduous woodland, the Rees Jones-designed Legacy course at Greystone Golf & Country Club opened in 2000, nine years after the Founders course. It’s an exacting test and an engaging one too, especially on the outward half which features a troublesome creek.
 
Limestone Springs - Designed by former US Open Champion, Jerry Pate, Limestone Springs Golf Club opened in 1999 and is set dramatically in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, where meandering creeks, thrilling elevation changes and clever routing combine to create an absorbing round.
 
Turtle Point - Another golf course from the prolific Robert Trent Jones, the Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club is one of Alabama’s private facilities, so you’ll need to befriend a member to sample one of RTJ’s 1960s designs.
 
FarmLinks - Designed by Dr Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, the course at FarmLinks Golf Club opened its tees for play in 2003 and has never looked back. Routed generously though part of a 3,500-acre hunting estate, FarmLinks continues to garner golfing admirers and for good reasons.
 
Ledges - The golf course at The Ledges is a Dr Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry co-design that opened in 2000 and is set spectacularly on the highest ground in Huntsville. Despite the mountain setting the routing is not unduly arduous but an enjoyable challenge.
 
RTJ Golf Trail - The Shoals (Fighting Joe) - If you like it long, and we mean seriously long, then you’ll love the RTJ Trial’s 8,092-yard Fighting Joe golf course at The Shoals. Named after the Confederate General, Joseph "Fighting Joe" Wheeler, only play this track from the tips if your nickname is “Bubba”.
 
Forest Highlands (Canyon) - Opened in 1988, the Canyon course at Forest Highlands Golf Club was created by the design duo of Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish. It is currently the premier golf course in the State of Arizona.
 
Desert Forest - Desert Forest Golf Club was fashioned in 1962 by Robert "Red" Lawrence who went on to shape numerous other courses in the American Southwest
