There’s plenty of golf to played at St Leon-Rot, 45 holes to be precise and there are two really excellent layouts. Perhaps the best of which is the newer St Leon course which was designed by Dave Thomas and opened for play in 2000.

The best-run businesses run SAP and the man who founded one of the world’s biggest software companies, Dietmar Hopp, created St Leon Rot. You can therefore rest assured that the quality and service provided at Golf Club St Leon-Rot is world-class.

English architect Dave Thomas was commissioned to create a course in the traditional style and he has frankly done a pretty good job with the testy St Leon layout. Some earth moving was required on this relatively flat tract of land and Thomas has created some pleasing mounding and some threatening water hazards in the shape of lakes and streams, which will certainly focus the mind.

You’ll need a long and accurate game to tame the St Leon course and you’ll also need a soft touch around these greens which are well protected, simply huge, undulating and tricky to read. Naturally, everything at St Leon-Rot is done with precise style and the quality is second to none.

Definitely a very good course. Course condition was absolutely outstanding when I played it two years ago. Layout also pretty good. However, the club house atmosphere and the fact that the club entrance is at the end of a pretty ugly industrial estate to my mind reduce the overall experience. All in all I agree that based on the exceptional quality of the course, St. Leon ought to be in the German Top 10.

the greatest golf experience I've had so far in Germany. It is a true oasis for golfers and guests feel really welcomed.
