Katameya Heights was to be Egypt’s first residential golf resort when it was first proposed in the early 1990s and the developers tasked Yves Bureau – who also takes the design credit for the Amarante Golf City project, 20 miles to the north of here – with the transformation of a desert landscape on the outskirts of the capital city into the green oasis that it now is. 

Bureau had made his name as a top architect in his native France during the previous decade (designing, amongst others, a trio of fine golf courses along the Atlantic coast at Omaha Beach, Saint Jean de Monts and Baden) so there was never any real chance of the 27-hole facility at Katameya Heights turning out to be anything less than a five star golf destination. 

Located between the Cairo suburbs of Maadi and Heliopolis, the fairways of the Championship and Nine-Hole courses weave in and out of the clusters of residential properties that occupy the land surrounding the verdant two hundred and fifty acres devoted to golf.
