Robert Trent Jones Jnr – course architect writes:
“Everything is big at Bro Hof! The holes are longer, the greens are bigger, the course has more water and the bunkers are larger and well placed. Besides which, the wind is always part of the game. On the dogleg holes you not only have to hit the balls a long way, you also have to get them to stop.
Mother Earth must have created this area for a golf course. All I had to do was to walk around this beautiful landscape and see where the holes would fit in. There was an enormous amount of land and a large wallet. If, in spite of everything, there wasn’t enough land, we could get more.” | It was a bold move by Sweden’s Golf Digest Magazine to put the Stadium course at Bro Hof Slott Golf Club at the head of their 2007 biennial Top 50 Swedish golf course rankings. After all, the Stadium course only opened its tees for play on September 1, 2007.
“It must be this way,” said Golf Digest Sweden. “Bro Hof Slott is better than, or at least as good as, other Swedish courses in several of these aspects: layout, aesthetics, variation, length, atmosphere and clubhouse. And despite the fact that the course is new, even its condition is perfect.”
“I am happy and proud. It was brave of the jury to appoint us so soon after the opening” said the owner Björn Örås. Our goal was to create the best Swedish course. Reaching that goal during the first season gives us support to aim even higher. Our next goal is to have the best course in Europe” said Björn Örås.
It’s early days for Bro Hof Slott and it takes a few years for a new course to settle in, but settle in the Stadium course has, and, the second course at the club, called the Castle has just opened for play. Clearly Bro Hof Slott has the foundation for a very bright future and playing host to the 2010 Scandinavian Masters has done the Stadium course no harm whatsoever. The Scandinavian Masters was formerly held on the Masters course at Barsebäck Golf & Country Club. | |

 | | | Average Reviewers Score: | | | I feel sorry for the guy that commented on this article prior to me. I have never during the couple of times I´ve played there faced anywhere near that same problem and I´ve played there several times. Bro Hof Slott GC has become one of the reasons why I´ve been returning to Sweden during these couple of years. Bro Hof is most certainly one of the Best if not the Best course, in Sweden most definitely, if not in Europe as well! Bro Hof Slott, The Stadium Course has everything which I perceive as what a perfect golf experience consist of. I just know that the layout, condition, and environment surrounding the course is far more than brilliant. I would simply rate this golf course as a Hole-in-one if that would have been possible. The price for playing there is comparable to any top golf course in Europe, and with all premium and superior aspects surrounding the Bro Hof Slott Golf Course I can´t put a price on such an experience. If I could I would like to spend more hours on the course just to be able to grasp the extraordinary atmosphere surrounding Bro Hof Slott. | | 24 December 2009

| Response: | | | David Jones | 29 January 2010 | | I was thinking of planning my main 2010 golf holiday around a trip to Bro Hof Slot. Your review makes it so much more tempting which only adds to the problem in a nice way | | | Harry | 31 January 2010 | | David, if you're from the U.S., it would be a shame if you came to Europe only to play an RTJ course that you could find anywhere in North America. | | | David Jones | 01 February 2010 | | Based in the UK. 2 of the 5 mates I go away with yearly have partners who are expecting in late spring so just a weekend in Portugal during Feb for us this year. Thankfully my partner has taken to the game and she has Scandinavian roots so we are looking at touring the area in summer. I have to confess I do worry if I have been seduced by what is a very slick marketing campaign and may be let down, but its an area of Europe i've yet to explore so maybe the time is right. | | | Harry | 01 February 2010 | | Fair enough! |
| | This course is fun and challenging and indeed created at a huge expense. I'm concerned with how things are managed there after my experience. We played mid-day on a beautiful Friday in July. It was a painfully slow round of about 5.5 hours much in part due to the fact that the course was full of maintenance people and greenkeepers everywhere that didn't seem to want to pay any attention to the golfers. On several greens we were waved on to hit our approach shots inbetween 3, 4 even 5 people that just kept standing there. Which is frankly ridiculous, especially at the cost of a round of golf there. Now I've played all over the world and have to say outside of the golf course this was the by far the worst golf experience you could possibly have. All of our foursome completely agrees with that and one was a member there. Very disappointing and I'd argue it's not worth the trip or the price. Wrote a letter to make them aware of this and the response was so ludicrous it would be worth publishing. It's unfortunately that a great course in the wrong hands can end up to be such a drama. I'm certain on a good day this would of been great but you can argue a course is only as good as it is at it's worst moment and the same goes for service. I certainly won't return. | | 20 September 2009

| | Bro Hof has got to be one of the finest golf destinations on the planet. They have thrown so much money at the place and the result are excellent. From the clubhouse to the halfway hut, no expense has been spared. The most important part is ofcourse the golf, and this is truly magnificant.
The course has been set up to hold large tournaments (it is rumoured that they want Ryder Cup 2018 there) and it shows. The greens are fast, and if you just miss them you will be rolling down the banking. The course is also very long, and you need to be accurate with all that water around (unless you have 4 buckets of balls in your bag).
The only downside is the expense, as this place is not cheap to play. If your wallet can stretch to it though, it is definitely worth a visit. The other option is to practice alot and get into the Ryder Cup team for 2018, because with all the great Swedish golfers around at the moment, it is only a matter of time before the Cup goes there. | | 19 June 2009

| | A truly fantastic course! If you are to play any course in Stockholm this should be your first choice as there really is no other course to compete. The greens and fairways are in amazing condition, comparable to the best courses in Europe. The course is very well kept and the overall finish is excellent. You won’t be disappointed! | | 10 September 2008
